About Us
My great grandmother Malindia endearingly called me Tela. I loved to hear her call my name just as much as I loved following around her house when I was visiting. She quite often was busy making remedies or gardening. I recall the smell of the beautiful flowers growing in her front yard. She and my grandparents grew most of the food that they ate. As farmers, my grandparents had people traveling from all over to get food grown own our farm especially their sweet potatoes, watermelon, and peanuts. As a child, I loved the farm life. We raised chickens, pigs, and cows. My grandparents and great-grandparents often made their own home and herbal remedies. This lifestyle has come full circle as over the last decade, I began studying herbalism and home remedies. A real suburban farmgirl, our little suburban "farmacy" just outside of Memphis has grown from one small raised bed to taking up nearly all of our suburban lot. We grow over 170 different varieties of medicinal plants and herbs in our suburban backyard "farmacy".
With the realities of food insecurities and the increase in unhealthy processed foods, it is more and more important for us to learn to be more self-sufficient with our food and our health. Our goal is to help other people incorporate healthy lifestyles that incorporate organically grown medicinal herbs and homegrown food. Check back often for tips on growing your own food. Learn about the benefits of organic herbs and homegrown food to understand the importance of incorporating them into your lifestyle.
